Transmission
Mike Jacobs is responsible for First Wind’s transmission and interconnection strategy, including utility integration of wind resources.
Mr. Jacobs offers First Wind 20 years of experience and knowledge in the areas of wind integration, utility relations, and transmission expansion.
Prior to joining First Wind, Mr. Jacobs was Acting Policy Director with the American Wind Energy Association in Washington, D.C. He also managed utility and system operator relations for new transmission with TransEnergieUS and Cross-Sound Cable.
As a member of the regulatory and Open Season team at TransEnergieUS, Mr. Jacobs defined and marketed the rights on new transmission development projects in New York, New England, Ontario, and the PJM Interconnection.
Before that, he supervised wind resource assessment and new product marketing for Second Wind Inc., expanding the company’s product line for measuring wind resources and power system quality and utilization in the U.S, Europe, and Asia.
In addition, he served as Account Manager for Florida Power & Light while at Second Wind and as a staff member at utility regulatory and siting agencies in Massachusetts.
Throughout his career, Mr. Jacobs has maintained a strong interest in maximizing wind acceptance through new approaches and the adaptation of conventional utility practices.
